Footballer Wayne Rooney appears to be going for Celebrity Dad of the Year as he’s shared an adorable picture of himself cuddling up to his children.
His wife Coleen Rooney is preparing to front the Tesco Mum of the Year Awards in time for Mother’s Day, meanwhile Wayne posted a black and white image featuring him in bed with their offspring.
Showing off his cross tattoo as he put his arm across the little boys, it was a rare personal moment made public with the family.
“Chilling with my boys,” Wayne captioned the snap which marks only the fourth picture he has released to the world via his Instagram account.
The sportsman joined the social networking website on March 15 and previous photos include highlights with his team Manchester United. The 28-year-old also kicks for the England team, which hopes to find success at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil this June.
Coleen told ! in November that Wayne wants to expand his brood soon so Kai, four, and Klay, ten months, have another sibling to play with.
“I’d probably like another one – not too soon though,” she admitted. “I think a girl would complete the family but because the boys get on so well, another boy would be just as nice. But at the moment life’s good. It’s busy but I’m enjoying it.”
The 27-year-old fashion designer is known for scoring high in the style stakes, something she acknowledges is more difficult now that she has two young children. “When you become a mum the first time round it makes you realise you don’t get much time for yourself. But second time round it’s even harder,” she confessed.
“Kai goes to pre-school four days a week, which is good because I get to spend time with Klay and he’s quite easy. He’s laid-back and happy so I can take him places and he’s fine.” Coleen has signed up as ambassador for the Tesco Mum of the Year Awards, which will be presented in a glitzy ceremony at London’s Savoy hotel in March.
The occasion rewards women who have helped others and the judging panel includes celebrity parents DJ Sara Cox, TV presenter Gaby Logan and Olympic gold medallist Denise Lewis.
