Despite the fact that Jim Carrey slammed the level of violence in Kick-Ass 2 earlier this week, Universal Pictures International VP Simon Hewlett still says its a killer movie.
During his remarks to the CineEurope convention attendees, Hewlett declared that the sequel is a bigger, badder, more ballsy adventure, adding, “It”s irreverant, dark and often offensive.
In contrast, Carrey actually proclaimed that he couldnt get behind the movie anymore, given the sensitive social setting following the Sandy Hook tragedy last year.
I did Kick-Ass 2 a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence. My apologies to others involved with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart.”
