Todd Harrell Arrested in Fatal DUI

In what turned out to be a fatal Saturday night (April 20), 3 Doors Down bassist Todd Harrell was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide in Nashville, TN.

According to People magazine, Nashville police say the 41-year-old was allegedly under the influence of drugs and alcohol when he was speeding down I-40 and clipped a pickup truck.

The truck, which was driven by Paul Howard Shoulders, Jr. of Nashville, swerved out of control and overturned down an embankment where Shoulders was ejected from the vehicle and later pronounced dead at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

According to officials, Harrell appeared intoxicated during a field sobriety test and also admitted to taking prescription drugs Lortab and Xanax as well as consuming hard cider.

Once taken into custody, authorities say Davidson County Sheriff”s deputies found a plastic bag concealed in his sock that contained 8 Xanax pills, 24 Oxycodone pills, and 4 Oxymorphone pills.

The band later shared their condolences on their web site in a statement, writing, “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Paul Howard Shoulders, Jr. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this difficult time.”
