After being treated for an unspecified illness for the past several weeks, soap star Jeanne Cooper passed away on Wednesday (May 8) at the age of 84.
The veteran actress played the role of Katherine Chancellor on “The Young and the Restless” since 1973 and won a Daytime Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama Series in 2008.
Her son, actor Corbin Bernsen shared the news of his mothers passing via Facebook saying “My mother passed away this morning just a short time ago, peaceful with my sister by her side, in her sleep.I was going to visit this afternoon, thought I had time. Reminder to self -time is a precious thing.”
In a statement, Sony Pictures Television president Steve Mosko spoke of the legends death saying, “Jeanne Cooper was a legend in daytime and a beloved member of our Y&R family. She touched the lives of millions who watched her every day over the past 40 years. We send our sincerest condolences to her family as we also celebrate her wonderful life.”
