Bringing their big screen flicks to your TVs, The Weinstein Company signed a multi-year streaming deal with Netflix.
The contract starts in 2016 and will make Netflix the sole US home for first-run films from TWC and Dimension during its premium pay-TV period.
This deal extends the companies current contract, which already covers documentaries, foreign films, and select box office hits including Oscar-winning flick The Artist.
“The deal that we”ve just completed with Netflix is probably the biggest deal in the history of The Weinstein Company and together, we are discussing ways to reinvent the pay TV experience so that the audience can get even more for their money,” Harvey Weinstein said in a statement.
“Harvey and Bob Weinstein are in a class of their own when it comes to choosing and producing the best films in the world. They are as innovative in business as they are creative in their storytelling. We look forward to reinventing the pay TV window with the Weinsteins, Ted Sarandos, Netflix CEO, added.
Other companies in contact with the movie streaming database include Disney, DreamWorks, and 20th Century Fox Television.
