Princess Madeleine of Sweden has shared plans of her upcoming summer wedding during an interview released by the Royal Household.
The 31-year old will wed financier Chris O”Neill on 8 June in Sweden, and the princess revealed that venue, guests and bridesmaids are all ticked off her to-do list.
Of course, there is plenty of time before June rolls around, but what bride-to-be wants to wait until the last minute to plan her big day “Remember that there are less than four months to go!” Madeleine playfully scolded her interviewer when asked if preparations were underway.
“Time flies when you”re having fun. We”re planning everything to the last detail even though I”m in New York and working for the World Childhood Foundation.”
Clearly excited, Madeleine was on a roll, and she revealed specific details about the celebrations being lined up in her homeland. “We will have an afternoon wedding followed by dinner held out at Drottningholm Palace, which I am very happy about. Drottningholm Palace means a lot to me because I was born and grew up there.”
Asked if the guest list was complete she replied: “Yes, I dare say that it is. Invitations will be sent out before April 1, so we have some time to ourselves. It has been a difficult process when you want to invite everyone but unfortunately it”s not possible.”
Among those present will be the little pagegirls. “Chris will have a best man at his side. And just like my mum and my sister, I will have young bridesmaids, it is a wedding tradition that I want to pass on.”
The ceremony will unfold inside the church of Stockholm”s gilded Royal Palace. It was there Sweden”s future queen Princess Estelle – daughter of Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel – was christened almost one year ago.
Chris, 38, and Madeleine met in New York in 2010, and due to Chris”s work commitments, the couple have chosen to make the Big Apple their home.
The royal moved to the US over two years ago, following her split from fiancé and boyfriend of eight years, Jonas Bergstom, amid claims he had been unfaithful with a Norwegian student on a skiing trip.
Madeleine and London-born Chris now share a luxury apartment in Manhattan, though they haven”t ruled out a move back to Sweden in the future.
