Theyre in a heap of trouble with Johnny Law, and Teresa and Joe Guidice showed up in a New Jersey federal court this morning (July 30).
The Real Housewives of New Jersey stars faced a total of 39 counts of fraud and tax evasion that could add up to many years in jail and millions of dollars in fines, but according to TMZ, “the pair are each free on $500k bond after surrendering to federal authorities in their fraud case. As part of the terms of their bail, both Teresa and Joe had to surrender their passports and are restricted to New York and New Jersey.”
As he strolled into court, Joe slapped a camera out of the way, prompting his lawyer Miles Feinstein to blurt out, Calm down, Joe. Dont do that.
Feinstein also noted, “They”re presumed innocent. They maintain their innocence. They”re supporting each other.”
Teresa and Joe were indicted yesterday on allegations of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, bank fraud, falsely filing loan applications, and bankruptcy fraud. Mr. Giudice is also being prosecuted for failing to file tax returns from 2004 until 2008.
US Attorney Paul Fishman told press, “The indictment returned today alleges the Guidices lied to the bankruptcy court, to the IRS and to a number of banks. Everyone has an obligation to tell the truth when dealing with the courts, paying their taxes and applying for loans or mortgages. That”s reality.”
