Literally taking country music to a worldwide audience, Taylor Swift brought home the Pinnacle Award from the 2013 CMA Awards on Wednesday (November 6).
The 23-year-old was supported on stage by the biggest names in the business, including Rascal Flatts, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Keith Urban and Brad Paisley. All of them reportedly offered Taylor the chance to open for them on the road when she was a teenager.
The “Red” singer recounted her beginnings when Big Machine Records head Scott Borchetta called her when she was 16: “He said, “Can you be on the road in two days to open for Rascal Flatts, and I immediately started screaming and said, “This must be a miracle,”” she said. “He said, “No, it”s not a miracle. Eric Church got fired for playing too long.”
“You”ve made me fell so special right now, thank you,” she concluded. Taylor was nominated for six awards coming into the CMAs including the night”s top honor, as well as entertainer of the year.
