Though the appearance was for her own “Shine Bright Like a Diamond” video contest, Rihanna arrived several hours late to a suburban Chicago high school on Friday (March 22).
Barrington High School in Illinois won the competition with a five-minute student-created video showing the school”s volunteer and community service efforts.
Making a stop before that night”s concert at the United Center in the Windy City, the 24-year-old singer offered no explanation for the extreme tardiness except for the tweet, “This Chicago traffic is not working.”
However, later she talked up the students, tweeting, “On my way to Barrington High School in Chicago!! I can”t wait to meet these kids man!! They”re major inspirational life changers,” along with facts about their charity work.
After the short visit with the patient fans, Ri-Ri posted, “#BHS thank you man!!! You guys RULE!!! I love this school!!!”
