In a scary reminder of her advancing age, Queen Elizabeth II was hospitalized on Sunday (March 3) after suffering symptoms of gastroenteritis.
According to a palace spokesman, the monarch was taken “as a precautionary measure” and may stay for a couple of days. He added, “A decision was taken on medical advice to take her from Windsor [Castle] to hospital.”
This week”s events, including a trip to Rome, have been cancelled. Assuring worriers, the spokesman explained, “She is otherwise in good spirits and good health.”
Though she may be 86 years old, the last time she was in the hospital was way back in 2003, to have a knee surgery.
