How does Ri-Ri do it
Barely a year after releasing the hit-laden Loud, the Energizer Barbadian is back with her sixth studio album in seven years. (To put that in perspective, Janet Jackson put out six from 1986 to 2004.)
But whereas Loud lacked some bang, Talk That Talk is one of 2011″s best pop-diva statements. Led by “We Found Love,” the euphoric first single (and her 11th No. 1), this set confidently walks that walk. Rihanna puts on her party pumps for Euro-house jams like “Where Have You Been” that return to the club-friendly territory of “S&M” and “Only Girl (in the World),” while cuts like “You Da One” recall the reggae bump and bounce of “What”s My Name”
Talk also harks back to the edgier, sexier Rated R with “Rude Boy”-esque tracks like the grinding “Roc Me Out” and the title tune, which reunites Rihanna with “Umbrella” cohort Jay-Z for another moment in the sun.
