Oprah Winfrey on the N-Word: "You Cannot Be My Friend and Use That Word Around Me"

Oprah Winfrey on the N-Word:

Taking a break from doing the interview herself, Oprah Winfrey stopped by the “Late Show with David Letterman” on Wednesday (July 31).

The Queen of Daytime smiled for fans and photographers outside the studio in NYC in a gray color-block dress with matching heels.

Making the rounds to promote her new movie, “The Butler,” the 59-year-old media mogul talked about the use of the N-word in a recent interview with Parade magazine.

Sharing her disdain for the word, Oprah explained, “You cannot be my friend and use that word around me. I feel strongly about it I always think of the millions of people who heard that as their last word as they were hanging from a tree.

Later, Ms. Winfrey lamented that young people today know “diddly-squat” about the civil rights movement, which is one reason why they “need to see” her new film. “The Butler” hits theaters on August 16th.
