NBC Cancels

Finally confirming what had been expected for months, NBC announced on Saturday (May 11) that it has cancelled “Smash” after two seasons on the network.

The show, about a Broadway musical, starred “American Idol” alum Katharine McPhee, and was one of the peacock network”s big performers in its debut season, but fell off the radar as of late.

Also not making it to see another run is the freshman comedy “The New Normal,” which failed to meet NBC”s expectations ratings wise.

The two shows join “Up All Night”, “Whitney”, “Guys With Kids”, “Go On”, “1600 Penn”, and “Deception” in the network”s cancelled category.
