His life changed forever when he participated on the hit MTV series “Catfish” but sadly Michael Fortunato has passed away.
According to MTV News, the 26-year-old died on Saturday (October 12) in Hartford, CT. He was apparently driving himself to a local hospital when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a fence.
Paramedics arrived on the scene and transported Mr Fortunato to the nearest hospital where doctors were unable to revive him. He was later pronounced dead.
Farmington”s chief medical examiner”s office reported to MTV that Michael”s cause of death was a pulmonary embolism due to a deep vein thrombosis.
On Tuesday (October 15), the host of “Catfish” Nev Schulman took to the Twitterverse to pay his respect to Michael.
“I didn”t know him well, but feel lucky to have known him at all. A great guy & event better friend. He will be missed.” Nev tweeted.
MTV also released a statement about the situation that stated, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Michael Fortunato. Our condolences, thoughts and prayer are with his family at this time.”
Mr. Fortunato was featured on the show”s second season when he met his girlfriend Ashley Sawyer for the first time face-to-face after having a seven-year relationship online.
