Mario Balotelli has cheekily said that he wants a kiss from the Queen if he helps to rescue England”s World Cup campaign.
The Italian striker caused a stir on Twitter when he posted a message minutes after England”s 2-1 defeat to Uruguay, which left the squad on the brink of elimination from the tournament.
“If we beat Costa Rica I want a kiss, obviously on the cheek, from the UK Queen,” the 23-year-old wrote. The message has already gone viral, being retweeted almost 150,000 times.
On Friday Mario and the rest of the Italian team will play against Costa Rica – England will go out of the World Cup if Italy lose or draw the game, or if Italy beat Costa Rica but lose against Uruguay on Tuesday.
England will only go forward if Italy win both games and they themselves beat Costa Rica on Tuesday; a draw or loss would mean an exit from the World Cup at the group stages for the first time in 56 years.
A.C Milan player Mario is one of football”s biggest personalities.
He was the subject of numerous stories during his time playing for Manchester City, including driving into a women”s prison in Italy to “have a look around”, giving £1,000 to a homeless man on the streets of Manchester and allegedly confronting a school bully after finding out that a young fan was skipping classes.
He also famously let off fireworks in his bathroom in 2011 and set his £3 million rented house on fire.
Mario recently got engaged to his girlfriend Fanny Neguesha. Days before his first 2014 World Cup game, the footballer popped the question, and happily the striking Belgian model accepted.
Sharing a picture of the engagement ring on Instagram, Mario wrote, “She said yes.. The most important yes in my life. That was the place of my question! I Love you and happy birthday too ! Je t”aime my WIFE ❤ @thisisfannyneguesha”.
Fanny, 23, also shared the photo, writing, “Tonight, I said the most important yes of my life. That was the best present for my birthday! I love you first and unique husband.”
