Though the rumors have long been swirling, Mariah Carey announced on Thursday (May 30) that she is leaving “American Idol.”

In a retweet from her PR firm, the “We Belong Together” singer shared, “W/ global success of #Beautiful (#1 in 30+ countries so far) @MariahCarey confirms world tour & says goodbye 2 Idol.”

Earlier this week, the 43-year-old songstress posted on her website that she”ll perform at the Macy”s Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular this year.

Alongside country star Tim McGraw, the event will be hosted by Mariah”s hubby Nick Cannon and airs on Thursday, July 4th from 8-10pm ET on NBC.
