She and her husband, who wed in 2009, are said to be delighted by the news.
“Sophie and Freddie are expecting their first child in August and both are overjoyed, as are the whole family,” a source told the Daily Mail.
The parents-to-be reside in Los Angeles where he works as a financial analyst, and Cambridge-educated Sophie, who made a name for herself in Peep Show, is pursuing her acting career. She is currently starring as Ashton Kutcher”s love interest in the hit US sitcom, Two and a Half Men.
The couple first met during a night out in 2007, and become engaged on Valentine”s Day two years later when Lord Freddie spelled out his proposal on a Scrabble board. They wed that September in the 500-year-old chapel at Hampton Court Palace Chapel in a lavish ceremony overseen by the groom”s mother Princess Michael.
Lord Freddie, 33, is currently 40th in line to the throne. His father, Prince Michael, 70, – cousin to the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh – lost his place in the succession when in 1978 he married the then Baroness Marie-Christine von Reibnitz, a Catholic who refused to convert to Anglicanism.
