Lauren Scruggs Is Walking After Plane Propeller Accident

Lauren Scruggs, the model and blogger who was severely injured in a plane propeller accident on Saturday, is making strides – quite literally – in her recovery.

“Lauren walks!” reads an update on her Caring Bridge website, posted Wednesday. “This morning … the physical therapist assisted Lauren in walking for the first time.”

“Once she got halfway there, she said, “30.” Not sure what she meant, [her family] asked her what that means, she replied, “Steps!” What a praise, she was counting every step that she took!”

On Monday, Scruggs marked a milestone as well, speaking for the first time since the accident.

But the 23-year-old (who lost her hand and underwent several emergency surgeries on her face and shoulder after she accidentally walked into the propeller) still faces a long recovery period, the Scruggs family spokesperson tells us.

“The left eye is still non-responsive, the doctors will continue monitoring it for the next few days,” the Caring Bridge update reads. “Please pray [for] Lauren as she begins to learn the extent of her injuries.”

Lauren”s father, Jeff Scruggs, told Good Morning America that he believes his daughter, who had been flying around Dallas in the two-seater plane, went to thank the pilot when she accidentally walked into the propeller.
