By her own admission, Kelly Osbourne has battled body issues and addictions in the past. Now though the star looks better than ever, having lost more than 70lbs since 2009 — and she has got her confidence back.
Kelly, 28, stripped down to her bikini to pose for a series of shots as she talked about becoming health-focused and happy with her body. “(I figured out) there is no such thing as perfection,” she told Self Magazine of her new-found self-esteem.
“The only thing I can be is me. I”m not perfect. I make mistakes. And my body is not perfect either, but I love it.
“It will never be perfect but I do not want it to be. That”s so boring!”
The Fashion Police star also opens up on her weight loss secrets, which involve putting her health before the desire to be skinny. Combining healthy eating with exercise, she said she manages a minimum of half an hour cardio a day — “usually intervals on the treadmill” plus “whatever else I feel like doing that day; weights, yoga, pilates.”
She has also come up with a fun way to lose weight and avoid the usual Saturday night temptations. “I put in ridiculous outfits and hula-hoop and dance when everyone else in at “da club”,” she revealed. “We call it #HipHopAnonymous.”
Another top tip from Kelly — dress up for the gym. “That way when you look in the mirror, you”re like “Oh I look cute”, not “Get me out of here”.”
Kelly, who is dating vegan chef Matthew Mosshart, admits that she does still have bad days. “When you change your body, you start to get selfish,” she said. “You”re like, “Oh, but that”s still fat and that”s still gross, and why can”t I look like that”. To stop myself I have to look at how far I have come.
“I”ve learned how to eat right and look after myself. Also, I don”t weigh myself. If you like what you see in the mirror, then what”s the ******* point of getting on a scale”
The star — who is even more health-focused after suffering a seizure in March — said her new approach to her body also means she tries not to compare herself to others. “It”s ok to have a healthy envy and look up to somebody and set goals, but you have to realize that you”re never going to be exactly that person.
“Wishing you were Angelina Jolie or J.Lo isn”t going to change the fact you”re not. Why not start working with what you do have instead of what you don”t”
