Kate Middleton was spotted making a quick dash into Gap to do some last-minute shopping before the royal tour to Australia and New Zealand.
The Duchess of Cambridge, 32, stopped to buy clothes for eight-month-old Prince George and couldn’t resist buying a couple of items for herself.
Kate, who is known for her love of high-street fashion, made the quick trip from her lavish home in Kensington Palace to the High Street Kensington shop. Arriving in a Range Rover, the Duchess was flanked by three bodyguards.
The stylish Kate seemed to know exactly what she was after as she expertly browsed the shelves of Baby Gap with stripes and checks in mind. As she, Prince William and baby George will be travelling to warmer climates on their first official family tour overseas, Kate was keen to pick out light coloured summer clothes.
What Kate may wear on the royal tour
The doting mother went with a nautical theme, buying two navy and white striped babygrows for £14.95 each and another pair of striped grey and navy striped cotton trousers for £8.95. Kate was also drawn to a green checked bodysuit designed to look like a shirt costing £12.95, and some denim shorts for £14.95.
William and Kate’s three-week tour itinerary revealed
Conscious of her waiting car parked outside on double yellow lines, Kate quickly grabbed two pairs of trousers for herself and headed to the check out. The gracious royal queued behind other customers and paid for her purchases, totalling £126.44, by credit card.
Kate, who is a regular shopper at the clothing giant, left by a side entrance to meet her driver.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their young tot will begin their official tour on Monday 7 April in Wellington, New Zealand. The family will then move on to Australia on Wednesday 16 April and end their trip on Friday 25 April in Canberra.
George will be making an appearance at a couple of official engagements, which are yet to be confirmed. The royal baby will be in the safe hands of his Spanish nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, who started with the family last month, for the duration of the trip.
Fashion watchers will be eager to see what outfits the elegant Kate will don. It is thought that the Duchess will opt for lightweight, comfortable materials like cotton and silk to stand the high temperatures.
