When the royal baby arrives, Kate Middleton and Prince William will be the first to see him or her.
According to recent reports, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be the only ones present in the delivery room upon the babys arrival.
“She very much wants just her husband to be there,” NBC News royal expert Camilla Tominey said Monday, explaining that there “are no plans for Duchess Kate”s mother and sister to join her in the delivery room.”
Though they will not be in the delivery room with their daughter, Carole and Michael Middleton are reportedly in the London hospital awaiting their grandchilds arrival. Kates sister Pippa is also waiting with the family.
A Kensington Palace spokesperson told NBC, “Things are progressing as normal” with Kate”s labor. We won”t have official confirmation, however, until a royal press officer emerges from the Lindo Wing carrying a document. The paper, signed by Kate”s medical team, will list the infant”s gender and possibly weight or hair color. It will be driven by police escort to Buckingham Palace, where it will then be placed on a scroll outside the Privy Purse.
