Team GB will have strong royal backing with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry due to attend 30 events at the London 2012 Olympics.
The Duchess will cheer on swimmer Rebecca Adlington, the golden girl of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, when she defends her 800m freestyle title.
After her win at the last Games, Rebecca, a shoe lover, was given a pair of Jimmy Choos by her local council – the first she”d ever owned.
Kate, the former captain of her school hockey team, will also watch the women”s hockey and sailing team.
Together with Prince William she will watch the tennis at Wimbledon.
Meanwhile, her brother-in-law Harry may renew friendships he made in Rio de Janeiro when he met members of the Brazil volleyball team. Brazil are thought to be contenders for gold and the Prince will be in the stands on August 8 for the final.
A St James”s Palace spokesman said the royals had picked out events in which they had a personal interest and also “to support Team GB as much as possible”.
