He”s had a long standing relationship with Nike, but now Kanye West cutting ties and signing on with its competitor, Adidas.
During an interview with New York”s Hot 97 on Monday (November 25), the “Heartless” hitmaker confirmed his new contract with the German sports clothing.
“I took the Adidas deal because I have royalties and I have to provide for my family,” West declared.
He also recalled the comments he stated during his Madison Square Garden the night before about Nike for not being a good business partner and stated that the company didn”t give him the royalties he should have received because he”s “not a professional athlete.”
In regards to his clothing line, Kanye said, “I”m gonna be the first hip-hop designer and because of that, I”m gonna be bigger than Wal-Mart.”
While the partnership with Adidas is still young, there”s no release date for the 36-year-old rapper”s Red Octobers shoe line.
