Doesnt look like Amanda Bynes will be out and about any time soon. Doctors at the mental health facility where shes been receiving treatment asked a judge to keep her confinedand the judge has now agreed.
Sources say the plan is to keep treating the troubled actress for 60 days, and then transfer her home to stay with her mother. Technically, though, TMZ reports that the former child star could remain hospitalized for as long as a year, given the wording of the ruling.
Bynes publicist released a statement about the 27-year-olds health. It read, “Despite some reports, Amanda is improving daily and responding well. There is still a long road ahead, and that doesn”t mean being confined to a locked-down treatment center. Amanda is in the best hands presently, medically, and each day her condition is being monitored. There is not a set release date, but with the great track she is on presently, she will be out of a lockdown facility and continuing to recover elsewhere in the near future.”
Bynes was placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold in July after setting a fire in a driveway in Los Angeles. On August 15 she was moved to the UCLA Medical Center after her mother gained temporary conservatorship.
