Taking a break from the small screen to bring a special story to the silver screen, Jon Stewart will direct the indie film “Rosewater.”
According to the New York Times, the “Daily Show” host will take a 12-week hiatus to work on the project, based on a true story.
Also scripted by the 50-year-old comedian, the movie is based off the memoir, “Then They Came for Me: A Family”s Story of Love, Captivity, and Survival,” by Maziar Bahari and Aimee Molloy.
The story follows Maziar Bahari, who left London in June 2009 to cover Iran”s presidential election, but ended up spending the next three months in an Iranian prison, enduring brutal interrogation by a man he only knew by his smell: Rosewater. Production on the drama will begin in June.
