Hollywood"s dark horses gallop to victory at SAG awards

Hollywood

Jean Dujardin and Viola Davis have spiced up the race to the Oscars after picking up top accolades at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

It was a night for the underdog as Viola saw off Meryl Streep to win best actress for her turn in civil rights drama The Help, while The Artist”s Jean halted George Clooney”s domination of awards season.

Collecting her gong, an emotional Viola said: “What is there in life but a dream. You can”t trade in your dream for another dream. I am so proud to be an actor “.

It was a successful night for The Help, which cleaned up in two other categories including best ensemble cast and best supporting actress for Octavia Spencer.
