The brunette beauty began her fashion career working in department store Selfridges before she decided to begin auditioning for acting roles.
In 2008, after her second ever audition, Michelle won the role of Tina McIntyre in the long-running ITV soap Coronation Street.
The character of Tina went on to become an integral character for the soap, and was central to many storylines including surrogacy and perjury. She had a strong relationship with Rita Sullivan and was a fan favourite.
Michelle won the 2008 Best Newcomer Award at the British Soap Award, and between 2009 and 2014 Michelle won the Sexiest Female Award at the same awards ceremony.
In 2013, Michelle announced that she would leave the soap after six years, and her character of Tina began an affair with a married man; this storyline would be the beginning of the end for Tina.
