Coleen Nolan has thanked all of those who have sent messages about her late sister, Bernie Nolan, who died on 4 July after a three year battle with cancer.
“Thank you to everyone for all your kind messages about Bernie!” Tweeted Coleen to her followers. “And to everyone that showed up yesterday! A very sad but beautiful farewell x”
Bernie’s funeral took place on Wednesday. Given her long fight with cancer, the singer and actress had been able to plan the service she wanted during the months running up to her death.
The Nolan sisters were out in force to pay their final respects to their beloved Bernie at the Grand Theatre, in Blackpool.
Well-wishers, carrying messages of condolance, had lined the streets to say goodbye to the much-loved star in her hometown.
The theatre was a particularly fitting venue, which Bernie had chosen herself, because of her fond memories of the place.
Bernie often performed there with her famous siblings as part of the Nolan Sisters, whose biggest hit was I’m in the Mood for Dancing, treasuring her memories of the time they spent there.
“The theatre was our lives,” her sister Linda Nolan, 54, said. “Bernie was a born performer and did summer seasons and pantomime at The Grand.”
