Greg Halman, a Dutch baseball player who was an outfielder for the Seattle Mariners in 2010 and 2011, was stabbed to death in the Netherlands on Monday, and his brother has been arrested in connection with the crime, according to reports.
“A 24-year-old died this morning in a stabbing and we have arrested the 22-year-old brother of the victim,” a Rotterdam police spokesman told Reuters, which identified the deceased as Halman.
Of the brother, a police spokesman told the Associated Press: “He is under arrest and right now he is being questioned. It will take some time to figure out what exactly happened.”
Police found Halman bleeding from a stab wound at a home in Rotterdam after responding to a call early Monday. They were unable to revive him.
Halman hit .230 for the Mariners in 2011, with two home runs and six RBIs.
