While the rest of the country was swept up in the excitement of the royal wedding, Fearne Cotton was feeling anything but elated. The TV star was in the middle of a very painful split from skateboarder Jesse Jenkins — and has revealed that the inescapable coverage of Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s big day left her feeling very alone.
“My rock bottom moment was probably a failed engagement when I was 29,” she told Cosmopolitan magazine. “It was around the time of the royal wedding so there was this big thing about marriage everywhere, but my life was the opposite of that.
Fearne, 31, and Jesse started their on-off romance in 2008, and after a number of break-ups, got engaged in September 2010.
With their relationship over for good by the time the royal wedding rolled around, Fearne said she had convinced herself she would never find the right man.

“I thought, ‘Oh that’s me then. I’m not going to meet anyone now,” she recalled. “Plus, I’ve always wanted kids so I started to think, ‘Should I adopt one day'”
Not long afterwards, she met Jesse Wood — son of Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie.
“What you don’t know at the time is that as one door closes, another opens — and soon after I met the love of my life and got to have a baby,” said the star, who welcomed son Rex in February.
“Jesse and I met through a friend in a restaurant in Ibiza, and we just clicked. I don’t think there’s anything you can really pinpoint when it happens like that.

“I’d been in love before, but this was different. He makes me laugh and he balances me out… He makes me laugh all the time and he’s so chilled out,” Fearne gushed.
“He’s been to hell and back in certain ways, so nothing fazes him; he takes it all with a pinch of salt.”
