Midsomer Murders star Fiona Dolman exclusively welcomes her daughter Madeleine Charlotte to the world in this week’s ! magazine.
The actress who plays Sarah Barnaby in the hit ITV show, had revealed to ! how her surprise pregnancy at the age of 43 had been a ‘blessing’ after a string of heartbreaking miscarriages with her ex Martin Curry had led her to give up all hope of ever becoming a mummy.
The little girl was conceived after a brief relationship following Fiona’s split from her husband of 13 years, and despite her initial shock, her arrival is a huge delight for the actress who’s planning to bring her up as a single parent.
“Things might not be perfect but from the moment I held Madeleine in my arms we felt like a team. I’ve got so much love around me I know we’re going to be alright,” says Fiona. “I can’t describe it, but I just look at her and think I don’t remember life before and we’ll just be absolutely fine.”
In the exclusive chat with ! magazine out this week Fiona opens up about the role her secret baby father will play, “He’ll meet her and then we’ll just see how it goes. I think it’s very important that if he’s a part of her life he’s a consistent part so it’s whether he feels willing and able to do that.”
She also reveals how 12 days overdue she went into labour in the hairdresser’s chair after riding a tractor to try and hurry the baby along.
And she talks of her admiration for the Duchess of Cambridge, who gave birth just days after she did: “I was seriously impressed. She was in heels and a nice frock…I was being asked if I needed a wheelchair to get me out of hospital because I was walking like I was about 112!”
