Prince Phillip was still in hospital Thursday, the day after he was admitted suffering from a bladder infection.
The 91-year-old is being treated in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. He was driven 50 miles in an ambulance from Balmoral, where he began feeling unwell during his summer break with the Queen.
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: “The Duke of Edinburgh has had a recurrence of the bladder infection that he had in the summer and has been admitted to hospital for investigation and treatment.
“His Royal Highness is likely to remain there for the next few days.”
Philip, pictured in Aberdeen last week, spent five nights in hospital with a bladder infection following the Diamond Jubilee River Pageant.
He was forced to miss some of the events to celebrate his wife”s 60-year reign while he recuperated in King Edward VII Hospital in central London.
The Duke also underwent minor heart surgery in December to clear a blocked artery. He spent four nights in hospital over Christmas to have the procedure after complaining of chest pains while staying in Sandringham.
