The Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton has two new royal engagements to add to her diary.
Prince William’s wife will be making an appearance in London’s Greenwich area as she attends the launch of America’s Cup at the National Maritime Museum on June 10. The racing events showcase yachts from all classes and time periods, and in the past visitors to the exhibition have had the chance to discover the history of the America”s Cup since its royal beginnings in 1851.
Duchess Kate is a fan of sailing
It was originally known as the One Hundred Guinea Cup, “named after the New York Yacht Club”s schooner America when she defeated fourteen British yachts in the All Nations Race at Cowes, Isle of Wight in 1851,” according to Royal Museums Greenwich.
As a sailing fan herself, Duchess Kate will be glad to know that each America”s Cup match takes place to prove a nation”s ability to create what’s deemed technologically the best sailing vessels.
Duchess Kate will attend a garden party in June
The beautiful brunette showed just how much she loves the world of racing on water when she beat her partner twice as they went head-to-head in Auckland, New Zealand recently on the Royal Tour.
Just two days after her upcoming event, the Duchess will attend a Garden Party for the 150th anniversary of the British Red Cross at Buckingham Palace.
The gathering will be hosted by Her Majesty The Queen and will no doubt have plenty of other royal favourites present. The start of June looks set to be a busy time for everyone in the family as on 9 June, Prince William will attend the United for Wildlife Launch at Google in London.
