"Downton Abbey" dame Elizabeth McGovern rocks it out onstage

She plays straight-laced society matriarch the Countess of Grantham in the BBC”s lavish period show”s Downtown Abbey.

But American actress Elizabeth McGovern also moonlights in a very different job – doubling up as a rock goddess.

Gone were her gowns and regalia as she thrilled fans at Saturday”s Isle of Wight Festival.

The 50-year-old performed with Scottish group, Big Country on the main stage.

Looking every inch the rock chick in a black skirt and hot pink top, Elizabeth was having the time of her life as she grooved with the group”s lead singer Mike Peters.

Fans of Downtown Abbey will be stunned by the star”s two very different styles.

When she”s not in her role as Lady of the Manor, bohemian Elizabeth fronts her own band Sadie and the Hotheads – who were also on the bill at the Isle of Wight Festival.
