Demi Lovato’s comeback has been both inspirational and amazing. The once troubled singer can now add mentor to her long list of accomplishments. Lovato recently returned to her rehab center to speak with patients. Along with that, the Disney darling also gave an honest and insightful interview with Glamour magazine about cutting scars, tattoos and her love life.
Describing her cutting scars, Demi said, “I think scars are like battle wounds — beautiful, in a way. They show what you’ve been through and how strong you are for coming out of it. My tattoos say ‘Stay strong.’ ‘Stay’ on one [wrist] and ‘strong’ on the other. Now I’m able to look at them and be thankful for being alive. I think that I’ve been blessed over the past year to be able to start over.”
Staying strong has become the anthem to Lovato’s career and life after she completed treatment. Fortunately, she was able to realize that being a star means having fake “yes-men” as friends but once your star power fades, those “yes-men” do too. This is actually a lesson all young people should learn: not everyone who agrees with you does it because they are your friend and not everyone who disagrees with you does it because they are your enemy. Surprisingly, Lovato calls Kim Kardashian one of her realest and closest friends!
Lastly, when Demi Lovato spoke about her love life, it was clear she knew what type of person she wanted for a boyfriend. She said, “Someone who’s not only supportive in my career but also in my recovery. It’s a big responsibility dating me. Because I come with a little bit of baggage, you know? I’m completely open. I’m honest about the journey I’ve been on, so I definitely don’t take dating lightly anymore. And they have to make me laugh.”
Demi Lovato still has a huge future ahead of her. If she can continue the positive changes in her life and stick to her sobriety, she will remain a staple in the entertainment industry. However, her career may be one relapse away from resembling Lindsay Lohan’s!
