Danish princess" name revealed at beautiful baptism

Danish princess

The first girl to be born to her parents Prince Joachim of Denmark and his pretty French wife Marie has been baptised in a moving ceremony, attended by the entire royal family.

In line with royal custom the princess” name was only revealed at the service on Sunday.

Athena Marguerite Françoise Marie slept through the christening in her mother”s arms, waking only briefly to exercise her lungs with a little cry.

The sleeping beauty has been given the French version of her paternal grandmother”s name  an honour Queen Margrethe was obviously thrilled with because she couldn”t stop smiling.

And Françoise is after her maternal grandmother.

The little girl arrived with her parents and little brother Henrik.

Meanwhile Nikolai and Felix, her older siblings from her father”s previous marriage were looked after by their grandparents Margrethe and her husband Prince Henrik, also a Frenchman.

Also sharing the couple”s happiness was Crown Prince Frederik and his glamorous Australian wife Mary, who wore an elegant bird-print dress for the occasion.

After the celebration in the historic church of Mogeltonder, which was where Marie and Joachim married, the couple invited their 221 guests back to their nearby residence Schackenborg Castle.
