Carrie Underwood Donates $1 Million to Tornado Relief

Giving back to those who lost their homes, possessions, and family members in the devastating tornado which ripped through Moore, Oklahoma, Carrie Underwood has announced she will donate $1 million to relief efforts.

A native of the state, the country crooner said in a statement on Saturday (May 25): I have watched the devastation in my home state of Oklahoma over the past several days with great sadness. With the help of my fans who attended my concerts over the past year, we can offer the Red Cross a little extra help in comforting those affected by the recent tornados.

Another country superstar, also an Oklahoma native, Blake Shelton, announced plans for a telethon and concert for the victims.

The Voice coachs Healing in the Heartland event will air next week on NBC.
