Her singing career took something of a backseat while she was First Lady of France. But Carla Bruni was back on stage this week in Paris.
The model wife of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy picked up her guitar and sang at a charity concert to help raise funds for research into Alzheimer’s disease.
She looked chic in a black shirt and jeans, with her brunette hair hanging loosely over her shoulders.
Her face wreathed in smiles, the mum-of-two looked in element as she performed songs from her new album Little French Songs, including Mon Raymond, a track written about her husband.
She has described it as a love song to Nicolas, with whom she has a 19-month-old daughter Giulia. Raymond is her pet name for the former French leader.
Raymond is described in the song as “a stunner, atomic bomb material” and “complex, romantic but tactical”.
During a recent interview with Reuters, she said Nicholas was. “OK with it.”
She added: “I think he liked it. Of course, being the muse for a song is not a position a man usually has, but it is a tender song.”
The concert was a nice warm up for Carla’s tour, which begins on 22 November at the Casino de Paris. She will play dates in France before moving on to the US next year.
