Starlet Emma Watson, 23, stole the show on day two of the Cannes Film Festival. The Harry Potter actress had photographers in a frenzy as she glided along the red carpet in a monochrome, back-baring Chanel couture gown.
Although the dress was the epitome of vintage glamour, Emma added a hint of youthful rebellion by accessorising with three studs on her upper ear lobe. The look was a far cry from wholesome Hermione – the Harry Potter character which made Emma famous.

Attending Cannes to promote her role in the film The Bling Ring, in which she plays a celebrity-obsessed house burglar, Emma insisted she wasn”t shying away from her Harry Potter persona.
“I”m not trying to run away from it,” she said at the film”s press conference. “I”m very proud of the work that I did. I”m just really enjoying having the chance to transform into new roles.”
Sofia Coppola directed Emma in her new film venture, and the actress said she enjoyed a more flexible approach to acting.
“I am used to really having to stick to my lines. Because people really know them by heart,” she added. “So it was lovely to ad-lib or improvise. It was really special.”
Frieda Pinto was equally glamorous as she attended the grand unveiling of her film Jeune & Jolie. The star has also taken on the role of L”Oreal ambassador, and she looked every inch the poster girl as she posed in a jewelled Sanchita dress split to the thigh.
Fellow L”Oreal girl Eva Longoria was spotted jetting into Cannes on Thursday. The former Desperate Housewives actress is a constant presence at the film festival”s star-studded parties.
Eva was in the party mood even as she touched down in France and the diminutive star flashed a smile at photographers who captured her arrival.
