Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden have finally confirmed their romance. After weeks of speculation, the couple stepped out hand in hand in New York City on Tuesday.
Cameron, 41, and Good Charlotte guitarist Benji, 37, looked happy and relaxed as they headed out together in the city, and weren’t shy about showing their affection for each other.
The pair were first linked back in May when they spotted heading out to the gym together in LA. Sources confirmed that they had been spending a lot of time together in the weeks leading up to that.
“They’ve spent a lot of time at Cameron’s house,” one insider told People. “Cameron seems very happy with Benji. He is the nicest guy and treats her like a lady.”
It is thought that Benji’s sister-in-law Nicole Richie played matchmaker for the couple; Cameron and Nicole have been good friends for some time now, and it was likely Nicole who introduced the actress to her husband’s twin.
Benji is the first high-profile romance Cameron has had since splitting from New York Yankees player Alex Rodriguez back in September 2011. Her other exes include Justin Timberlake and Jared Leto.
She recently said she is not actively searching for a man to spend the rest of her life with. “I don’t think you find them, I think they find you,” she said. “My feeling about it is you should just be open to receiving.”
She told US Weekly, that she believes individuals can connect on a deeper level with more than one person. “There are many soulmates,” she said. “My soul has a lot of different facets and it needs a lot of different men. Friends too. Friends can be soulmates.”
