They had a marvelous time vacationing in Havana, Cuba earlier this year, but Beyoncé Knowles and Jay-Z may have sparked new animosity for the Caribbean nation among congressional lawmakers.
According to a report, a House of Representatives subcommittee just passed a bill that would restrict American visits to Cuba except for academic pursuits.
Jose Serrano, a Representative from the Bronx explicitly blamed Beyonce and Jays trip for restarting the debate.
This bill is a response to the trip by Beyoncé and Jay-Z. Its intended to play to an audience a diminishing audience who think there should be no contact with Cuba, he lamented.
And while the new bill may actually pass a vote in the House, Serrano seemed pretty convinced that the legislation will be shut down in the Democrat-controlled Senate.
