Angelina and Brad: Amid talk of marriage, why they

“I feel fortunate to have a relationship where I actually feel safe enough to imagine growing old together,” says Angelina Jolie of her partner Brad Pitt.

And despite never marrying, the pair”s union is far stronger than many Hollywood love stories that have failed to go the distance.

Perhaps this is down to their status as equals. She”s a worldwide sex symbol and one of Hollywood”s most sought after actresses, but proud Brad is always by her side to support her many projects.

And the feeling is mutual: “I”m proud of him every single day,” said the actress on the promotial trial of his film Moneyball, for which her partner won an Oscar nomination.

And although they”ve both said in the past that tying the knot is not an option until same sex unions are legalised, it now seems marriage may be closer than ever.

“We”d actually like to, and it seems to mean more and more to our kids,” Brad told The Hollywood Reporter of the couple”s current thoughts on a wedding.

“We made this declaration some time ago that we weren”t going to do it till everyone can. But I don”t think we”ll be able to hold out.”

In this special report, magazine.com takes a look at the couple”s rock solid romance.
