Amanda De Cadenet made headlines as a supportive girlfriend to Demi Moore when the actress sought treatment.
Now De Cadenet is creating her own buzz, starring in Lifetime”s new interview series, The Conversation, which she executive produces with Moore and premieres April 26.
In the series, De Cadenet interviews famous women, ranging from Jane Fonda to Lady Gaga to Gwyneth Paltrow, in her or their living rooms, and addresses topics from body image and sexuality to motherhood.
“I wanted to offer women who are watching this some kind of truthful hope about what an experience has been like,” De Cadenet says. “It was really refreshing for me and for the guests to speak honestly about things. Life is going to happen to you no matter what weight you are, no matter how famous you are, no matter how much money you have in the bank. No one gets a free pass.”
Here are five things you may not know about this Conversation starter:
1. The daughter of a British racing car driver
Her father Alain De Cadenet, 66, is an on-air personality for the Speed Channel and ESPN.
2. Rock star love
Her first marriage was to Duran Duran bassist John Taylor in 1991. The two divorced in 1997 and had one child together, a daughter named Atlanta, who lives with De Cadenet in Los Angeles. She married Strokes” guitarist Nick Valensi in 2006.
3. A veteran TV talker
De Cadenet first appeared on TV in the U.K. at age 14. She began her career as the host of shows The Word and Breakfast. “I always said you could never pay me to go back on TV,” she says. “Because I just did not like it.”
4. A renowned photographer
The youngest woman to ever shoot a Vogue cover, De Cadenet has photographed many celebrities over the years including Drew Barrymore, Keanu Reeves and Moore. “I”ve photographed a lot of my good girlfriends and it”s given me a lot of anxiety because I don”t want to let them down,” she says.
5. Busy mom
In addition to her older daughter, De Cadenet had twins with Valensi five years ago. “I am a working mom, my priority was to be able to do a job where I could work from home and be as close to my kids as possible,” she says. “As women, we”re trying to be the best mothers and partners and have careers. We”re trying to do so much. Its okay to say to other women, “How do you do this” Because I honestly don”t know. The more we are honest, the more you realize we”re all just trying to figure this out.”
